Montreal Private School Expo and other stuff!

In my week off last week, I spent most of it doing marketing for the Montreal Private School Expo which is this Saturday Sept 12 at the Holiday Inn in Pointe-Claire. A gathering of private schools so parents can come to one location to talk to various private schools both day schools in Montreal and boarding schools in Canada (including the Banff Hockey School) and abroad.

Other than that its been back to school! Don't know where the summer has gone! I'm back at the YWCA for a few weeks starting tomorrow. Should be good :)

Tag, you're it Petri Dish!

So Petri Dish made the more than fair accusation that I have not updated my blog since June... fair enough. Admittedly I have been rather busy working and cross-stitching up a storm. Speaking of which, that's what I was doing today - selling cards I cross-stitched at a 'craft-fair' in Ste-Anne's. Now to not be entirely negative, we did make enough to cover the cost of our table, and we did learn a lot in terms of set-up and how other's displayed their crafts. However, the craft-fair wasn't even advertized! We payed 25$ for a table and a tent (outside on the boardwalk) and for what? 5$ was to cover the tent - what was the 20$??? They obviously didn't spend it on advertising because there was no one there! Sort of dissapointing really. Ah well. At least we were two and had fun :)

Work contract for the summer is done... had a great time working at the YWCA... hopefully more contracts will come up and otherwise I'm looking for other jobs! Was a really great experience and it really confirmed for me that I'm in the right program. School in a week! Can't wait :)

Ok back to cross-stitching and spending a lazy evening on the couch :)

Wave = wow!

So I've been a little remiss in blogging lateley... I know very bad... however recently there have been a couple of inspiring things to share... so for starters... Google Wave http://wave.google.com/

Wow! the collaboration potential from an education perspective is fantastic! That students could collaborate on a project, send it to the teacher and the teacher can replay the creation of the document to see how each student participated is great! I realise this is still in development, but I can't wait to play with it a little!

So other exciting/interesting things... found an awesome new restaurant in old Montreal - called Resident - very yummy classy comfort food and good prices! This preceded my birthday gift from my lovely BF - Cirque du Soleil tickets! So incredible! 

WOW!

That's really all there is to say about Queen Milli  of Galt! The play was delightful. A truely beautiful play. And it was perfectly cast. Mary did a wonderful job directing. Becky and Mark were particularly fabulous as Queen Milli and Prince Edward, respectively. If anyone has a chance to see it, Lakeshore Players is running it until May 2nd.

So one paper is written and handed in. Now I'm on to paper #2... all that's left after this is a take home exam and a group project which is going very well. :) 

Happily today is rainy and gross- much more conducive to working on papers... and yet here I am again writing this blog...

Things are pretty quiet here, but my Grandmother arrives at the end of the week for a visit from England so that should liven things up a bit. Last night we went to see Rumors by Neil Simon! Hilarious! The gang in Hudson did a terrific job! I still have no idea how they got so much dialog out so quickly! Great fun!

Ok back to the paper...

Procrastination may be winning today...

I'm all for spring and good weather - but does it have to come when I'm supposed to be inside writing a paper? We all know that bright sunlight is not conducive to working outside with a laptop. So I take quick breaks outside to re-read sections of articles that I'm using for my paper, but going back inside is so difficult... 

Well hopefully I can keep working at it! It would be nice to get most of this done today... UGH I hate end of semesters...

Julie 1 - Procrastination 0

So things are moving along. The fact that the semester ends in less than a month is freaking me out slightly but such is life. The report for our seminar we gave  a few weeks ago is now done which is a relief and leaves me free to focus purely on business intelligence - the research for which is going well. I hope to finish that off today and possibly start writing today if not tomorrow. 

Other than that, not much going on.  Going to check out the home show tonight with friends - hopefully should give us some ideas :)

On that note, I shall go have a shower, get some coffee and be productive!
